4th/5th Battalion The Royal Irish Rangers Annual Camp 1995, Scotland.
|
4/5 RANGERS, commanded by Lt Col R N Kendell MBE RTR, attended Annual Camp, Exercise SAFFRON STORM, at Barry Buddon Training Camp, Angus, Scotland from 15-30 Sep 1995.
The focus for the first phase was on training the individual through Motor Transport (MT), Machine Gun (Sustained Fire (SF)), Assault Pioneer, Recruit, Junior NCO, and Infantry Section Commander training cadres. This was necessary due to the redeployment of the Mortar and the Milan Anti-Tank Platoon personnel following the disestablishment of these support platoons under the Ministry of Defence's 'Front Line First' restructuring announced on 6 December 1994 (which saw the TA total of infantry companies reduced from 109 to 87).
The final phase of Camp 95 was an inter-company march and shoot competition won by A (Militia) Company from Newtownards.
