Battle Honour BURMA 1942-43

Story

The theatre Battle Honour BURMA 1942-43 is emblazoned on the Queen's Colours of The Royal Irish Regiment.

The distinction was awarded to The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers for its two arduous, gallant and costly campaigns fought by the 1st Battalion in Burma during the Second World War.

In April 1942, the 1st Inniskillings earned a Battle Honour for the fighting to deny the Japanese the working oilfields at Yenangyaung, in Burma. To read about this action, please click on the Battle Honour YENANGYAUNG.
