Event
Fri, 06/01/2001 - Sat, 06/30/2001

RANGERS, commanded by Lt Col G P Bettesworth R IRISH, attended Annual Camp and Exercise RED SHANK for two weeks on SPTA (Salisbury Plain Training Area), Wiltshire during June 2001. This deployment replaced Ex PRICKLY PEAR which should have been held in Florida USA, but was cancelled due to the UK 2001 outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease.

Annual Camp had three components; a FIBUA (Fighting in Built Up Areas) package at the Copehill Down FIBUA village complex, company group level training and Ex RED SHANK which was a Regular Army Assistance Table task in support of the Combined Arms Training when RANGERS provided the A Company Group for 1 GREEN HOWARDS.
