During the successful attack of 2 RUR on the German
position at CAMBES on 9 June 1944, Lieut LENNOX was
seriously wounded, but continued to carry out his duties
in the face of very heavy enemy mortar and shell fire.
Having reached the objective, the position came under such
heavy fire as to render it almost untenable, but Lieut
LENNOX rallied his men and showed a high degree of devot-
ion to duty in encouraging them to hold on to the ground
they had won. The position was held and not until he
was incapable of further physical effort did Lieut
LENNOX allow himself to be removed from the scene of the
operation. He is recommended for an immediate award of
the MC.
