Dennis Craig's SUN newspaper article on British Army tour of USA 1964.
Major Derek Archer's dog 'Juliet' makes it to page 9 of the very first SUN Newspaper launched on 15 September 1964.

The very first copies of the SUN newspaper were sold on Tuesday 15 September 1964 and on page 9 there was an article concerning a red setter called Juliet, Major Derek Archer, and four Irish dancers about to embark on a British Army musical tour of the USA.

Major G D Archer was the Second in Command of the tour. The 1964 USA Tour was performed by the Massed Bands, Drums, Pipes and Bugles of The North Irish Brigade, and a troupe of Irish Dancers from the WRAC (Womens Royal Army Corps).

The American impresario Sol Horuk, featured in the advert below, specialised in arranging international tours and was most famous for bringing the Bolshoi Theatre Ballet to the USA during the Cuban Missile crisis in 1962.

The tour group returned to London where a final performance, presented as an evening of 'Irish Pageantry', took place on 16 December 1964 at the Royal Albert Hall, in the presence of HRH The Duchess of Gloucester.
